Steady Ground

Tools for when things feel heavy. You are safe, you are here, and you are not alone.

Stay Present

  • Firmly press your feet into the floor. Feel the support beneath you.
  • Look around and name five colorful things you can see.
  • Hold something cool—a glass of water or a smooth stone.
  • Say today's date and your current location out loud.
  • Breathe out longer than you breathe in, just five times.

Strategies for Peace

  • Flashbacks

Gently remind yourself: 'This is a memory. I am safe in the present.' Use your senses to anchor here.

  • Sleep Trouble

Keep it simple and cozy. If you can't sleep after 20 minutes, get up and do something quiet until you feel a yawn.

  • Avoidance

Avoidance is a shield that can get too heavy. Try one tiny, safe step toward something you've been steering around.

  • Hypervigilance

Name the feeling: 'My body is on high alert.' Slow, deep breaths and gentle movement can help lower the alarm.

  • Anger or Numbness

These are your brain's ways of protecting you. Notice them without judgment; they will pass in time.

You Deserve Support

Healing is a journey, and you don't have to walk it by yourself. Modern therapies like EMDR and CPT are incredibly effective. A great first step is simply telling someone you trust what's been happening.

Next Move is a supportive tool, not a medical provider.
